GoodReads

Hey guys,
I'm on the April holidays right now which means a LOT more time for reading and blogging (Yay!!).
That means I have to come up with loads of ideas which, BTW, I am not good at (Damn)!!
But a site called 'GoodReads' is my savior! There are loads of helpful reviews by people who have read the book (usually) as well as recommendations as to what to read!

Tell me what you think of it as well as telling me what I should write a review on!

UnderWorld by Catherine MacPhail

Hi Readers!
Underworld by Catherine MacPhail is a creepy book for ages 11-14. Though slated in the reviews side of things I think that this book is a relatively good read, although sometimes the story-line was a bit forced. I spent the day reading this on a mountain top cafe after injuring myself skiing, and thought this book was fairly entertaining with a good plot. It was fairly easy to read so those of you who prefer a harder writing style may not favour this book, but if you are looking for a quick book to read, then Underworld is for you!
Basically it's about 5 school kids from diverse backgrounds who all go on a school together to a Scottish island. They are taken into caves that are surrounded by legends and upon being blocked in, they have to try and find a way out.

Here is the blurb:
A school trip goes disastrously wrong when five troubled high school students find themselves trapped in an underground cave. Their best chance of escape is to stay together. But when a member of the group disappears, their hope of finding a way out starts to fade. Does one of the remaining four know more than he or she is letting on, or is there something evil lurking in the caves?

It is a good book although hard to really get into at the start, I love all of Cathy's books so I'm kinda biased.
A really easy read! Enjoyable but forgettable :(

X-Isle by Steve Augarde

X-isle book cover

Hey Guys,

I've just finished reading this fantastic book called X-Isle by Steve Augarde, its a book set in the not-too-distant future about a flooded planet earth, and the desperation that ensues.

Here is the extended blurb:
Ever since the floods came and washed the world away, survivors have been desperate to win a place on X-isle, the island where life is rumored to be easier than on what's left of the mainland. Only young boys are in with a chance, the smaller and lighter the better. Baz and Ray are two of the lucky few to be chosen, but they soon discover that X-isle is a far cry from paradise. Ruled by Preacher John, a dangerous religious fanatic, it's a violent, unpredictable place where terrible things can happen at any moment. The boys hatch an extraordinary plan in order to protect themselves - the construction of a mighty weapon of defence. But can they complete this weapon in time, and are they really prepared to use it in order to secure their freedom?

Its a really good book and I'd advise it to anyone, I would probably advise it to people aged about 11 upwards as there is a lot of violence.
Please read this book, its a real page turner, especially if you love end-of-the-world scenarios!
An excellent book, I'd rate it 8/10!

GONE by Michael Grant

Hi Everyone!
This is my first review post and I definitely think I chose well! This book is the first in a projected series of six and is great fun to read! I would recommend this for about 12 and upwards as it does include a lot of violence  and touches on some rather delicate subjects, although to be honest when I was about 10 I would have made it through this book still unscathed, it depends.

This book is about a place nicknamed 'fallout alley' because it is close to a power-plant  Then all of a sudden something weird, life-changing and mysterious happens- everyone over the age of 15 completely disappears and no-one can work out how. Cut of completely and trapped in a dome chaos ensues. Gangs start to form and strange and sometimes terrible things start to happen.

This book is absolutely amazing, PLEASE read it and leave a comment if you have! Cant wait to read the next in the series called HUNGRY!
I would rate this book 9/10 for it's excellent description and fantastic plot!
Thanks

PS. Please make this into a film!!!??
